Fly Tipping in Yeading Walk

We are saddened by the on-going instances of fly-tipping that has been taking place in Yeading Walk recently. In just the past week the volunteers have had to remove three large bags of household waste that had been thrown into the stream at the Northumberland Road entrance and by the stone bridge. We also had to remove garden waste that had been left under the two beautiful yew trees at the Lincoln Road entrance where we have planted snowdrops.

Other instances include bags of waste left at the Suffolk Road entrance, electrical appliances and decorators waste also at the entrance to Lincoln Road. We are constantly having to pick up kitchen waste which has been dumped in the bin in the sports field and which has then been disturbed by foxes. There has even been carrier bags full of dog excrement in poo bags left by the bins which then has to be handled by the Harrow Council Green Team.

We do of course report the fly-tipping to the council who have generally been very quick to respond. However we decided to remove the waste from the stream ourselves as we were concerned that the rubbish would be dragged further down stream if we did not act quickly.

Fly-tipping can be reported to Harrow Council on their website by clicking on this link. If possible note down the date and time of the fly-tipping and provide photographs. It is illegal to dump waste and perpetrators can be heavily fined.

On another note the Friends of Yeading Walk are pushing hard for more rubbish bins to be placed in the park as this is something that many of our members have told us they would like to see more of. However, please be responsible with your rubbish and if the bins are full then take it home with you. Thank you.
